In the first eight months of the year, China has experienced robust growth in its foreign trade sector, with total imports and exports of goods reaching a substantial 34.78 trillion yuan, equivalent to $5.18 trillion. This marks a significant 17.6% increase compared to the same period last year.
When examining the details, exports have seen a notable rise of 14.6%, totaling 20.17 trillion yuan. Imports, on the other hand, have grown even more impressively by 22%, reaching 14.61 trillion yuan. These figures underscore a consistent upward trajectory in the nation’s international trade activities.
August proved to be a particularly strong month, as the momentum in trade growth continued to accelerate. The total value of goods imported and exported surged 19.8% year-on-year, amounting to 4.65 trillion yuan. During this period, exports increased by 18.6%, while imports experienced a growth of 21.7%.
For four consecutive months, both imports and exports have achieved double-digit year-on-year growth. Notably, import growth has continuously surpassed export growth for the past six months, highlighting a dynamic shift in China’s trade landscape.
